The Electrical Industry Training Foundation (ABN 83 771 898 084) is a trust fund jointly operated by the Electrical Trades Union - Victorian Branch (ETU) and the National Electrical and Communications Association Victorian Chapter (NECA) and is administered with the assistance of Protect.

The purpose of the Foundation is to support training initiatives that enhance the employment and career opportunities of employees and, in doing so, increase the business opportunities for employers.

Employers bound by the 2007 - 2010 electrical contracting, union collective agreement have an obligation to contribute $5 (excluding GST) per employee, per week to the Foundation (per EBA clause 9.4). Contributing employers can now seek financial assistance for the cost of approved training courses. A list of courses, including suggested training providers, together with application forms can also be accessed via your Protect account.

Employers can seek financial assistance of up to $150.00 for each employee who participates in any one of the Approved Foundation courses undertaken from 1 September 2009 onwards.

Unemployed industry workers can obtain grants of up to $250.00; paid directly to the relevant training provider by the Foundation.

To seek financial assistance, you will need to complete the relevant application form and provide proof of payment and course participation. All applications received will be assessed by the Foundation which meets monthly. Eligible unemployed industry workers can expect to receive financial assistance within seven working days of Board approval.
