Protect Counselling is operated confidentially by the Hunterlink team of external counsellors. We partnered with Hunterlink on the strong recommendation of the Maritime Union of Australia to provide support services for our membership Australia-wide, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Hunterlink prides itself on being the ultimate employee assistance program (EAP). Their solutions revolve around well-being, treating cases of critical incidents, early intervention, and providing counselling, workshops, and training.

Over the phone or online

Counselling is provided by trained professionals and is usually offered both over the phone and through face-to-face sessions however due to COVID-19 face to face sessions have temporarily ceased. Male and female counsellors are available by phone or online and this free, confidential service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is accessible Australia-wide.

When restrictions are lifted, face-to-face sessions can be arranged near you. Protect Counselling has access to more than 170 qualified professionals throughout Australia, including regional centres.

No referral required

You do not need a referral to access Protect counselling. There is no wait time and every call is answered by a professional counsellor.
